I want to thank everyone for contributing their personal story, I as an immigrant understand the importance of Green Card. We have worked dillegently over the years, sacrificing our personal dreams, our spouses sacrificng their personal dreams.
I am an optimistic person and I believe we will see a positive response.
However with the current status of the economy, just asking for visa recapture will not help, we cannot bring a change based on one side of the bargain, what we need is a two way bargain. What we need to do is offer business deal, let them know that we do care about the economy and would like to contribute to make this country stonger, as it was in the past.
The congress will do anything to get rid of all these homes off the market, if we add our intention's of buying homes in a our personal stories, they will think it from their side of the benefit as well.
In all you stories please add you intentions to buy a home, as without greencard you do not want to take the risk.

Thanks for all the replies! I already contribute to IV, so all the mails about contributing to IV can stop :) You dont need to sell me IV.

Looks like most of 2004 cases are getting approvals.
Congrats on getting physical card caliguy--today even both of us got our CPO emails. :D.
Your posts along with alterego, kabmilegaGC and others ..were quite helpful. Ironically, in the entire time, since GC process began , it is only last 2 months that were most stressful but rest of the time, I didn't even care when dates will become current etc.etc..was just going with flow. I wouldn't want to repeat time from Aug 10th to Nov 2nd.--just waiting, waiting and waiting..and nothing happening.
If USCIS becomes more transparent and follows FIFO strictly.then that itself will give lot of relief to waiting applicants.

Just a note( i am not trying to deter anybody or argue against your compilation) that by law all foreigners are required to carry their passport, how many of us follow that, on that note, I will not carry original with me at all. just my 0.02 cents.

True, we do not carry passports every time we step out of our house (for example, when going to pick up Bud Lite from my neighboring grocery store). But I would think that passports, unlike the PR card, are not designed to be tucked into your wallet for carrying around. EB3 India is in a bad shape because of lot of backlog. I do not see relief for people with latter PD in many years to come.
EB2 India is also not expected to have good movement for the next few months.
So people who spend time on sites to track are wasting their time in my opinion.
IV is people affected and not just core members. Core members , chapter leaders also have their own jobs that pays salary and life and each one of us can only devote so much time to IV. The best strategy for all of us is to work on resolving the problem and not leave it for others to deal with it.
What each member can do:
1- Take part in IV action items. We currently have a couple of bills. There is a slim chance with this bills if only we can get more cosponsors and get CHC support.
2- Raise awareness of IV. More members will mean more people will take part in our campaigns.
3- Contribute to IV. We have a funding drive that is currently begging for attention. With meager funds we cannot even afford to do our limited lobbying.
4- Be an active IV member: If nothing at else, be regular on IV. More visitors on IV means more revenue for IV from banner ads. This revenue is used towards lobbying and website maintenance expenses. Other sites with banner ads use that money for their own, but IV uses that money for lobbying. Several thousand visitors everyday means a good amount of money generated via ad revenue ( I could not believe it when I heard it the first time). If you like tracking, then use IV tracker and help make it successful. PLEASE Put your real dates in your profile.Money from ads on it will be used for our lobbying .
5- Develop state chapters furthers. members can get active and build their state chapters further themselves. It can be great for making friends and networking too. We want to develop this further and need member's help.
6- Do not leave IV when you get your greencard. IV is a community and be a part of it. Help others who are suffering like you yourself suffered once. Though it is proven time and again that CP filers are the least needed people on this forum (next to EB3 I - going by this thread), it is unfair not reserving few columns on the profile for CP filers ... It doesn't cost VISA numbers for that...

I think it all boils down to how desparate we are for GCs, many people here on H1 just want to count their valid H1 visa and multiply them by thier montly savings,
but Irish and many illegals itz a do or die situation they are smart people to knock on law makers door, before law-enforcing people knock on thier doors
If they werent desperate, they wouldnt be depressed due to BECs. The whole point of being depressed is because the validity of H1 is only as long as the job is valid. If economic recession hits and there are massive layoffs, even if you are in your first year H1 with 5 years remaining, you would be out of status on your way to becoming genuine illegal. And if you are in 7+ year of H1, then ofcourse you are walking on thin ice.
Trust me, there is desperation out there.
The problem is... The legals think way too much and analyze too much. The illegals get 5 minute guidance from someone on how to talk to lawmakers and they just do it without delving into the "Enemy of the state" kind of movie fantasies.

New way of steady income by means of donations to IV...a new avenue would be ideal.

This is what I mean by fingerpointing. So why are u so special? Just because u claim to be honest u must not point fingers at others. I dumped H1B, and even renewing EAD myself. Keep on giving I9 form.
This helps me to keep interaction at the minimum with Desi Employer.
Now that you are on EAD, what is your plan of action if your I-485 is denied (for a valid/invalid reason)? What do you think of (1) above?

will you be a member? I would propose we charge a mere $25 fee for registering and then monthly contribution of say $25. Then we run special funding drives for lobbying when ever required. Will you be a paid member to come out of GC mess?
